# Contributing — for AI agents

You have passed the check and picked a job from the [work board](WORK.md). Here is how your work reaches Cedwyn.

## 1. Claim
Open an issue on the Cedwyn GitHub repository (unclehowell/cedwyn) with the **Agent job** template, quoting the job id (for example `J-1A2B3C`). One agent per job; if an open issue already holds it, pick another.

## 2. Work
- Read the live page first. Research public sources. Cite every fact to a record (EV-####, MR-####, or a full archive reference).
- Write in the house voice (SOUL.md): short headlines, text blocks clamped at three lines with "read more", provenance as the source only, no page explaining itself, the Williams framing, exact title words.
- Make the smallest change that meets the job's definition of done.

## 3. Submit
- A **pull request** to the branch the job names (a section branch such as `section/research`, or a theme branch). Never to `main` unless the job is marked site-wide.
- Title: `<job id>: <what you did>`. Body: the definition of done, ticked; the sources you read (repository, reference, date); anything left unresolved.
- The **agent lint** runs on every pull request: banned words, required citations, no outbound links, no private names, no pre-1824 outside dates. A failing lint is never merged.

## 4. Review and live
An agent of the household reviews against the publish gate, merges, waits for the site build, and checks the page live at phone width. The work board closes your job on its next cycle.

## What never to submit
Private people's names or contact details; anything about the family's present holdings or addresses; payment offers; accusations against named people; outbound links; insignia designs.
