# Skill #40 — House design & interior visualisation, used as heritage reconstruction images (2026)

## What practitioners and platforms say
- Meta labels AI-made images it detects (C2PA/IPTC signals) with "AI info" on Facebook, Instagram and Threads, and requires creators to disclose photorealistic AI video or realistic audio (about.fb.com, 'Labeling AI-Generated Images', Feb 2024; Meta Help 'How AI-generated images are labeled', read 26 Oct 2026). In 2026 AI disclosure is mandatory on Meta ads (coinis.com round-up, 2026; not checked against Meta's ad policy page).
- Heritage visualisation practice (The London Charter for computer-based visualisation of cultural heritage, 2009): say what a picture is based on, keep evidence apart from conjecture, and publish the sources. Archaeology outreach research (Internet Archaeology 46; Richardson, JCAA 2019) finds reconstructions and 'how it looked' images draw the public in, and trust depends on showing the evidence.
## How-to
1. Two kinds of image, never mixed: (a) a GENERIC period scene ('a typical Vale farmhouse c.1840'), AI-rendered, captioned 'Illustration: not a picture of Tŷ Mawr'; (b) an EVIDENCE diagram of Tŷ Mawr itself, drawn (PIL), every element tied to a record, marked 'Illustration · not to scale', positions we do not know marked 'position indicative'.
2. Put the label ON the image (it travels when shared) and again in the caption. For AI renders, add Meta's AI label when posting in-app; never present an AI render as a photograph.
3. Sources on the image: record IDs (e.g. Heneb HER 02038s; GGAT 1990 event E003872) and, for HER data, the acknowledgement 'Derived from information held by the Heneb HER Charitable Trust'.
4. No likeness of real family members; no people's faces close-up; no insignia; no text inside AI renders (models garble it; add text in PIL).
5. Pair each image with ONE question ('Whole farm, or Parcel B?') and one Cedwyn page.
