# BBC Radio Wales + Radio Cymru programme inboxes (one programme each)
Skill harvest 26 Oct 2026. Listener-contribution routes into two national Welsh radio programmes. Distinct from the BBC Wales / Cymru Fyw news-desk routes (bbc-wales-cymru-fyw-story-routes.md). Press only on the owner's GO; HubSpot drafts only.

## Reach (RAJAR Q1 2026, primary PDF)
- BBC Radio Wales: **312k adults a week** (11% of Wales), 6.8 h per listener, 4.1% share.
- BBC Radio Cymru: **124k a week** (5%), **8.8 h per listener** (most loyal of the Welsh services), 2.1% share.
- Context: Dros Ginio (Radio Cymru lunchtime current affairs) is ending in BBC Cymru cuts (Newyddion S4C), so do not pitch it.

## Programme 1, Radio Wales: Roy Noble (Sundays 17:00-19:00)
- Format: "stories, music and good company"; archive interviews and memory pieces (Windsor Davies, The Hennessys, community arts groups). Local-history storytelling is native here.
- Next show: Sun 1 Nov 2026, 17:00 (programme page, read 26 Oct).
- Contact (BBC programme page): **[address kept in the project workspace]**; post: Roy Noble, BBC Radio Wales, 3 Central Square, Cardiff CF10 1FT; phone [number kept in the project workspace] / [number kept in the project workspace] **during show times only**.
- Fallback: [address kept in the project workspace]; BBC asks contributors to "make it clear which programme" the message is for, and warns not every email gets a reply.

## Programme 2, Radio Cymru: Aled Hughes (weekdays, morning; programme page lists 09:00)
- Format: "Straeon cyfredol a cherddoriaeth" (topical stories and music). Recent clips: history of the pibgorn, Gŵyl Amgueddfeydd Cymru, the £25M Slate Museum project, a new farm at Rhyd-y-Clafdy. Heritage items of 4-9 minutes are routine.
- Contact (BBC programme page): **[address kept in the project workspace]**; [number kept in the project workspace] (10-15p); phone [number kept in the project workspace].
- Pitch in **Welsh**. One Welsh-speaking contributor available by phone is the ask; no Welsh speaker, no pitch.

## Practitioner method (what gets read)
1. **One programme, one email.** Name the programme in the subject: "[Roy Noble] Stori: the farmhouse that went missing from the records" style, bracket first (BuzzStream 6M-pitch study: leading bracket 52% opens, 2.2% replies; see email-subject-lines-preview-text-mpp.md).
2. **Lead with a story, not a book.** Presenter-led shows want a person with a memory or a find, plus one object/document they can describe on air. The book is the last line.
3. **Hook to a date.** Gŵyl Amgueddfeydd Cymru, St David's Day (1 Mar), Gŵyl y Glaniad (28 Jul, Chubut landing) or an anniversary in the record.
4. **Make it easy**: 120-180 words, phone number, availability windows, one link to a record page (not the shop), a photo only if rights are ours.
5. **Never chase more than once**, after 10 working days. Listener inboxes are high volume.
6. **After airtime**: clip appears on BBC Sounds; link it from the matching record page; log date and any traffic spike on /ebooks/ (UTM cannot be added to radio, so compare Cloudflare visits the 48 h after vs before).

## How we apply it to Cedwyn
- **Roy Noble angle (English)**: the house and its many names. "A Vale of Glamorgan farmhouse known as Tŷ Mawr, Great House, Great House Farm and more: 1667 is the family's acquisition, reported in the 1974 newspapers and by ITV News in 1988; the first record mention found so far is the 1824 David Stewart survey." Offer a named family spokesperson (owner decides who; the owner is never named by us).
- **Aled Hughes angle (Welsh)**: Enwau'r lle: register of the place-name forms, Llandough near Cowbridge vs Llandough near Penarth, and the Welsh-Patagonia thread for 28 Jul.
- **Flow**: draft both pitches as HubSpot tasks (subject "[RADIO] Roy Noble" / "[RADIO] Aled Hughes"), owner GO, owner sends from his own Gmail. Log outcome in the project workspace
