# Book Week Scotland has moved to June 2027: drop November 2026, plan around the new date

Checked 31 Oct 2026. Topic not in INDEX before this run (the only mention was the 11:58Z run's lead list).

## The fact that changes the calendar
- Scottish Book Trust's own programme page (read 31 Oct 2026): "The next Book Week Scotland will take place on 14–20 June 2027 ... Following consultation with partners, we are moving our annual celebration of books and reading from November to June."
- So there is **no Book Week Scotland in November 2026**. The 2025 edition ran 17–23 Nov (Scottish Book Trust Facebook post, snippet). Third-party calendars still list "15–21 Nov 2026" (Twinkl event page, snippet): wrong, do not copy.
- Event funding for 2027 opened 28 Oct 2026 (Voluntary Sector Gateway notice, read): £700 per successful applicant plus Scottish Book Trust support with planning and marketing; deadline midnight Wed 13 Jan 2027; for organisations running events in Scotland. Contact listed: [address kept in the project workspace]
- Scotland's Stories (the public writing opportunity tied to the week) opens in early September; this year's theme is "Wonder"; selected stories are printed in a free book handed out during the June 2027 week (programme page, read).

## Rules
1. **Calendar hygiene first.** Any plan, content calendar or pitch list carrying "Book Week Scotland, November" gets the entry moved to 14–20 June 2027. Re-check the official page each July, because a moved event can move again.
2. **Know whose week it is.** The funded events are for organisations in Scotland. A Welsh heritage project is not the target applicant; do not apply for the £700, and do not pitch Scottish libraries as if Cedwyn were local.
3. **Ride the reading conversation, not the funding.** National reading weeks raise searches and press interest in "books about place/history". The usable moves for an out-of-area author are: a timely blog/newsletter piece, a book-group pack, and social posts using the official hashtag during the week.
4. **Watch the June cluster.** June 2027 now carries several reading/heritage hooks close together (Book Week Scotland 14–20 June; Libraries Week UK is in June too, see `libraries-week-uk-cilip-june-local-history-pitch-2027.md`). Plan one piece of content that serves both rather than two thin ones.
5. **Pitch lead time.** Press and library programmers fix June content in spring; anything aimed at the week goes out by early April 2027.

## How we apply it to Cedwyn
- Measured 31 Oct: none of `the project workspace`, `the project workspace` or the other skill files carries a November 2026 Book Week Scotland entry, so nothing needs removing today.
- Add to the 2027 content calendar (PROPOSAL, for the BIZDEV plan): **week of 14 June 2027**, one "reading the record" post plus a free book-group pack for the Cedwyn e-books (discussion questions built from verbatim catalogue quotes, linking only to Cedwyn pages and /ebooks/). Combine with the Libraries Week UK piece the same month.
- Scottish angle only where a record genuinely supports one (for example Scottish-born figures in the farm's story); otherwise use the week as a general reading hook, never invent a link.
- No application, no outreach, nothing sent: outward pitches stay drafts for the owner's go, per standing rules.
- Calendar check: re-read the official page in July 2027 for the 2028 date.
