Skill: Spanish-language press in Chubut for the Argentina half of the story (2026)

What the evidence shows
- Pitching (Muck Rack, State of Journalism 2026, 1,000+ journalists): 62% prefer a 1:1 email; 69% want under 200 words; 78% before noon; the most-valued items are relevance to the beat (70%), access to a source (58%), original data or research (40%), high-resolution images (37%). 43% say relevant pitches are rare, so a tight, local, image-led pitch stands out.
- Diario Jornada (Trelew; diariojornada.com.ar, read 26 Oct 2026): newsroom reception [address kept in the project workspace], phone [number kept in the project workspace] and WhatsApp [number kept in the project workspace], staffed Mon-Fri 07:30-14:00 local; Director Periodístico Carlos Baulde, Editor Adjunto Rolando Tobarez. Same group runs Cadena Tiempo radio and Jornada Web, so one story can travel to radio too.
- El Chubut (elchubut.com.ar, Trelew with a Puerto Madryn office): contact form with a "Redacción" option, [address kept in the project workspace], phone [number kept in the project workspace]/3; it also has a "Carta del lector" (letters) section, a WhatsApp channel and FM El Chubut 90.1.
- Radio Chubut (LU20) posts Welsh-heritage segments on its Facebook page around 28 July (Desembarco Galés), e.g. a 160th-anniversary piece and an interview with a member of the Welsh community: evidence the station runs this beat each year.
- Time zone: Chubut is UTC-3, so 3 h behind the UK in winter (GMT) and 4 h behind in summer (BST). "Before noon" in Trelew is 13:00-15:00 UK time in winter. Jornada's desk hours are 10:30-17:00 GMT.
- Calendar hooks (from spanish-patagonia-audience.md): 28 July (Gŵyl y Glaniad), the Eisteddfod del Chubut (Sept-Oct; 2026 ran 19-25 Oct), 1 March (Saint David's Day). A pitch tied to a hook gives the desk a reason to run it that week.
How-to
- Angle for Chubut readers: a Welsh family house and its records, written for descendants of the 1865 settlers, not for UK readers. One dated record, one image, one short human line. No legal dispute, no accusations, no named living people.
- Write in neutral Argentine Spanish (press register, usted), checked by a fluent reader before the project lead sends, 120-180 words, a headline, a one-line image caption with archive reference, and a link to the Spanish-language Cedwyn page (not the shop).
- Send window: Tue-Thu, 12:00-14:00 GMT (09:00-11:00 Trelew). One outlet at a time; if no reply in 7 days, offer the same piece to the next outlet, not both at once (regional desks dislike duplicated copy).
- Order: Diario Jornada redacción -> El Chubut "Redacción" form -> Radio Chubut (offer a short phone or WhatsApp-audio interview in Spanish, only if a Spanish speaker is available).
- Letters route for no-news weeks: El Chubut's "Carta del lector" can carry a short reader letter about a record; it must be honest about who writes it.
- Track: one HubSpot task per outlet (draft), UTM

How we apply it to Cedwyn
- Draft only; press is on the project lead's GO. First draft to prepare: a 28 July 2027 piece ("Tŷ Mawr, la casa galesa de Llandough") ready by early July 2027; a Saint David's Day 2027 variant as a backup. Both as HubSpot draft tasks for the hive to review.
- Check what exists first: if the Spanish edition or Spanish landing page is not live, the pitch waits; never send readers to an English-only page.
- Spend: zero. No paid wires or paid placements.
