Skill: getting a guest-speaker evening with the civic and local-history societies nearest Llandough, whose whole audience has come for local history.
Harvested 26 Oct 2026 (skills harvest 16:52). Zero spend.

## What the primary sources show (read 26 Oct 2026)
- **Penarth Local History Society (PLHS)**: independent; monthly guest-speaker talks on local history and culture, 2nd Monday of the month, except June (a guided walking talk with a local historian), August and December. Venue: The Tabernacle Church, Plassey St, Penarth CF64 1EN (basement room); doors 19:15, start 19:30, finish about 20:30-21:00. Non-members pay £3 (cash), membership £20 a year, raffle £1. Contact goes by email to the Penarth Community Network address or the Penarth Civic Society chair, subject "PLHS Enquiry". Its listed community connections: Penarth Civic Society, Insole Court, Cowbridge History Society, Cardiff Civic Society. Read in full: penarthcommunitynetwork.org
- **Penarth Civic Society** (formerly The Penarth Society): runs its own events and sub-groups and lists PLHS talks "due to similar interests and shared members and speakers". 2026 is billed as "Penarth's Year of Community Connections & Collaborations", with a cross-organisation series on Penarth's shipping and seafront history held across several venues. Tickets (free or paid) are booked through the society's own site. Read in full: penarthsociety.org.uk (page head and notes).
- **Penarth Library** also hosts evening local-history talks (example: "1875: Crunch time for Penarth", 7pm start, from the library's Facebook post; snippet only, not checked).
- **Sales and attendance**: no attendance or sales-per-talk figures were published. The shared-speaker note means one good talk at PLHS is likely to be seen by Civic Society organisers too (our reading, not a stated policy).

## How to do it
1. Pick the society whose remit fits exactly: a farm next door to Penarth is squarely "local historical topics" for PLHS.
2. Write the pitch like a programme secretary's listing: title, 50-word blurb, speaker line, length (45 min + questions), what you need (screen/projector; the venue is a church basement room, so ask).
3. Offer one season ahead: PLHS runs 9 indoor talks a year, so ask which month in the next programme is open, and offer two titles.
4. Fee: free; the society's door money and raffle fund it. Offer to give the talk again as a walk later (PLHS's June slot is a guided walk).
5. Tie to the society's theme where true: Penarth Civic Society's 2026 series is shipping and seafront, so only pitch it if the farm's record touches that; otherwise pitch the core landscape-history talk.
6. Bring the handout and a sign-up sheet; ask the publicist to add the talk to the Civic Society events page and PLHS Facebook page, with the e-book link in the listing.
7. Afterwards offer a short write-up for the society's newsletter or page, with one link to the free edition.

## How we apply it to Cedwyn
- Order: PLHS (2nd Mondays, Penarth), then Cowbridge History Society and Cardiff Civic Society (named as PLHS connections; their routes not yet read).
- Listing link: cedwyn.bucklerfamily.estate
- Outreach is a HubSpot draft only, sent on the owner's go-ahead; public text never names the owner.
- Repeat bar: 20 attendees, 5 sign-ups or 1 sale per talk.
