# Facebook Stars and Page monetisation for a small heritage Page: a gate, not a revenue line (yet)

Skill harvested 2026-10-29. Verdict: **not eligible now; revisit at 500 followers held 30 days.** Nothing to install.

## The facts (read 29 Oct 2026)
- **Stars**: fans buy Stars from Meta and send them on Lives, Reels, on-demand video, and (per Meta's set-up page) sometimes photo and text posts. Creator gets **US$0.01 per Star** before deductions (deception, refunds, card/platform fees). 1,000 Stars = US$10.
- **Stars eligibility** (Meta Business Help Center "check if you're eligible", as quoted in search snippet + Clip-Short's read of Meta's pages): **500 followers for 30 consecutive days**, 18+, follow Partner Monetization Policies, live in a Stars-eligible country (75 countries/territories on Meta's list, read 8 Oct 2026 by Clip-Short). **Whether the UK is on that list: not checked** (Meta's help pages return an error to a script; confirm in Professional dashboard > Monetization).
- **Payouts**: around the 21st for the previous month; minimum **US$25 outside the US** (US$100 by wire) = 2,500 Stars. No payout account within 6 months = earnings forfeited (Clip-Short summary of Meta payouts page).
- **Facebook Content Monetization** (pays per qualified view on Reels, Stories, photos, text): **invite-only**. Express interest: Facebook app > Professional dashboard > Monetization > Content Monetization > interest form (Meta Newsroom, 18 Mar 2026, read in full).
- Meta's own numbers (Newsroom 18 Mar 2026): creators paid **~US$3bn in 2025 (+35% YoY)**; **60% of payouts went to Reels**, 40% to Stories/photos/text; creators earning >US$10k/yr up 30%+. New dashboard metrics: Qualified Views, Earnings Rate (per 1,000 qualified views), Non-Qualified Views (with reasons).
- **Creator Fast Track** (same post): guaranteed US$1,000/mo for 3 months only if you already have 100k+ followers on IG/TikTok/YouTube. Not us.
- **Subscriptions**: 10,000 followers or 250 return viewers + engagement (Clip-Short summary). Not us.
- Meta's Mar 2026 originality rules (see facebook-reels-originality-archive-clips.md): unoriginal reposts are demonetised and down-ranked.

## Practitioner testimony
- Meta's creator site case (Marc Rebillet, Stars on Lives) is a big-audience story; no small-Page case with numbers found. Facebook groups show creators past 500 followers still waiting for the eligibility tick (group threads, snippets only, not checked): expect lag.
- Arithmetic for a small Page: a Live with 30 viewers where 3 send a 100-Star pack = US$3. Below the US$25 minimum for months. **Stars is a fan-signal tool, not income, at our size.**

## How to do it (when the gate opens)
1. Weekly: read Professional dashboard > Monetization; log follower count and the Stars tick in the growth report.
2. At eligibility: switch Stars on per Reel (three-dot menu) only for original record-led Reels; set up the payout account the same week (avoid the 6-month forfeit).
3. Use Stars on a monthly 20-minute Live ("one record, read aloud"): set a small Stars goal bar, thank senders by name on air (Meta's best-practice advice for Lives). Never ask for Stars in the post copy; the call to action stays /ebooks/.
4. File the Content Monetization interest form once posting is regular (costs nothing); judge it by Earnings Rate per 1,000 qualified views after 30 days.

## How we apply it to Cedwyn
- **Now**: Great House Farm II had **1 follower** and IG @cedwynestate 6 (growth notes, 27 Oct). Stars is ~499 followers + 30 days away. Do **nothing** that spends effort on monetisation; the money path is /ebooks/ (£4.99 e-books).
- Add one line to the Sunday growth report: "FB Stars gate: N/500 followers". When N stays >=500 for 30 days, run steps 2-4 and file the Content Monetization interest form.
- Original-only rule already in force for Reels makes us eligible-in-principle; keep it.
- No spend, no DMs, nothing names the project lead; Lives (if ever) follow the editorial rules and banned-words list.
