# Skill: newspapers and press archives

**Use when:** looking for reports of a sale, a court action, a demolition or a statement.

1. Start from a named event and date, then search the papers for that week (sales, hearings and announcements cluster).
2. Save each article's text with publication, date and page, so later re-reads do not depend on the site being reachable.
3. Cite the report as a report: what was printed, by whom, when.
4. Business press (company results, mortgage debentures, clearances) is often the only public trace of land changing hands between companies.
5. Record against-the-case items found on the way, in the same report.
