REDISTRIBUTION OF SEATS. DEBATE AT BARRY DOCK CON- SERVATIVE CLUB. At the Barry Dock Conservative! Club amd Institute on, Thursday evening last, Councillor G. Wareham in the chair, an interesting de- bate on "Redistribution of Sea/ts)" took place. Mr. D. J. Jenkins, chairman of the Cardiff Junior Comservative. Association, opened in the affirmative, and Mr. M. H. Baugh, secretary of thus latter Association, in the negative. A spirited discussi-on followed, it being felt that large and growing constituencies like Cardiff and South Glamorgan:, were unequally repre- s,en,ted in Parliament compared with small con- stituencies like Newry and Kilkenny. The Act of Union, which provides for a hundred mem- bers for IrclMId for ever," was. quoted to prove the injustice and impossibility of redis- tribution, but it was urged that the Irish people themselves; clamoured for the repeal of this inf amous and unreasonable Act.—Mr. Jenkins and Mir. Baugh were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their addressee*.

ANNUAL MEETING OF BARRY GOLF CLUB. There was a representative attendance of Ladies and gentlemen at the annual meeting of the Barry Golf Club at the Barry Hotel on Friday evening, last, Mr. D. S. N. Came pre- siding. The financial report, was presented by the stecreitary, Mr. Fred N. Jones, and, being con- sidered very satisfactory, was unanimously adopted. The report sfhows that after an ex- penditure of £ 120 on the new pavilion has been met and other extraordinary expenses amount- ing to atbcut P,20 have been piaid, the debit balance at the bank amounts to C23 only. This Ir means a cl ar gain on the year's working of at least £ 50. During the past two years the club hias found out of ordinary revenue a sum of about £ 80, which has been applied to the pavi- Lion account, and for a small club which is almost entirely dependent upon members' sub- scriptions' foa* its income this can only be re- gardied asi very creditable indeed. The mem- bership of flioi club is now as follows:—Men, 120; ladies, 50; junior members, eight; or a total of 178. The receipts and expenses account for the year shows that the guinea subscrip- tions produced C70 7e, amd the two guinea subscriptions £81. 18s. Ladies' and juniors' subscriptions were £ 24 2&, and including some arrears, the total amount, received from sub- scriptions was IC184 198 6d. On the aidie of expenses, the principal item is £12Q spent on the new pavilion. Mr. Alfred Jackon proposed the election of Mr. D. Sibberitng Joaies. as captain of the club in succession to Mr. D. S. N. Carne, a general feeling being expressed t.ha.t Mr. Jones was one of the most actively interested members of the club, and much of its success was, due to his energy. Mr. F. P. Jones Lloyd seconded, and Mr. Jorve was unanimously elected. Mr. Jackson was proposed by Mr. Price Jones for the position; of vice-captain, aaid Mx. Sib- beritng Jonesi having seconded, the appointment wae agireed1 to in a similarly eaiithusiastic man- ner. Mr. J. S. Jones, of Lloyd's Bank, was re- elected tjpeajaurer. M'r. F. N, Jones was re- | appointed hon. secretary amid applause; and the following were selected to consltitutJe the committee: —General: Messrs. W. Waddell, H. E. Radford, W. Price Jones, Dr. King, Rev. C. J. Clarke D. S. N. Carne F. P. Jones Lloyd, W. H Murreli, F. E. Aiik.n, R. F. Ill- iingsworth, W. J. Darling, G. S. N. Carne, and N. S. Thomas. Handicap: Messrs, A. Jack- son, D. Sibbering Jones, F. N. Jones,, G. S. N. Carne and H. E. Radford. Dr. Powell raised the quee'tdon of lady mem- bers being amp owe,red to vote. and, as a re- sult of subsequent discussion, moved that the matter be considered at the next general meet- ing, but Dr. Powell was informed that the u r ladies at present had a club of thfcir own, and were, allowed to do their own handicapping. The meeting concluded with hearty thanks to the chairman, captain, seeiviary. treasurer, and other officers for their excellent services during last year.
