The farm’s money, 1877–1987: what the records show
Money recorded between other parties about Great House Farm (Tŷ Mawr) and its land: rents, a rent-free licence, ground-rent and estate sales, a legal charge, a school-site price, a takeover bid and court orders. Each line carries its catalogue ID. Where the records give no figure, the line reads GAP: that sum is not yet on file. This memo is kept apart from the cash accounts above and is never added to them.
The courts’ view comes first: the 1987 Court of Appeal judgment records rent arrears in the mid-1930s and late 1940s, the last rent paid in 1953 under a judgment for arrears, mesne profits ordered in 1962 and a rent-free licence in 1974; it gives no figures for any of them.

Current costs of delay, 2025 to today
Research costs from 2025 to today that follow from late replies, missing replies and unanswered internal reviews. Time is valued at £24 an hour, the published rate for a litigant in person who cannot prove financial loss (Civil Procedure Rules, Practice Direction 46, paragraph 3.4). Rows marked “to confirm” are dated events whose hours or amount are not yet on file; they carry no value until they are. This is a dated record for an Ombudsman redress request or a costs schedule, not an invoice. Fees paid to obtain records stay under Costs of disclosure above and are not counted twice.

- Double-entry, plain text, in Beancount. The site rebuilds from the ledger on every change; no server, no login, no cost.
- Period: from 1 April 2025 (18 months). The allied camp balance opened at £0.00 and is still £0.00: every cost so far was paid personally by the family (shown as "Funded: Family") or is a supplier invoice not yet paid (shown as "Payable").
- One entry per receipt, with an evidence reference (R-nnn). Receipts are kept privately and are not published.
- Only case- and project-related spending is published. Personal spending is left out.
- Class "case" = spent only on the case. Class "project" = AI and software tools used for the case and the wider project; the case share has not been split out.
- US-dollar receipts are converted at about £0.75 per $1, marked "~" as an estimate, unless the receipt states the pounds charged.
