Press play and the playhead sweeps the years like a music maker; each pad that lights is that line's publication date. Tap a lit pad (or the title) to open the source. "Related chronology" adds lines whose date is not a publication date (a court decision, an archived capture, a catalogue record's creation, a scan upload) - clearly labelled, and never mixed into the publication lines.
How to read the dates
- Every default line is a publication date: the document's own print or online publication date. Where only the year is known, the pad sits on the year and the line says "(year only)" - no day or month is invented.
- Source links open through this site's Wayback Vault, which shows its captured copy first and always offers the live website and the Internet Archive copy.
- Each line names its source basis. A library-catalogue or publisher page verifies the book and its date; it is not a full text. Full-text scans are labelled as such.
- The optional related chronology lines are not publication dates: the BAILII line is the date the judgment was handed down; the Amazon line is the date of an archived capture; the ADS line is when the catalogue record was created; the Internet Archive line is when the scan was uploaded. They are kept on separate, labelled lines so the two kinds of date are never conflated.
