Catalogue status — as at 10-10-2026: A dedicated record is maintained for this distinct title register/plan. The uploaded PDF is linked as the current file. The content should be transcribed against the original before drawing a conclusion beyond the descriptive metadata below.

The register for WA231076 is a present-day registration record. Entries, proprietorship, charges, restrictions and referred instruments should be separately transcribed and compared with the first-registration evidence and later amendment history.

Record the exact copy date, title number, registered proprietor, entries, referenced documents, scale/legend, and whether each item is a certified copy, official copy or working download. Preserve metadata and checksums. Cross-reference: GHF-E162 plan. See also Land Registry Titles and the HM Land Registry forensic review.

  • Transcribe material entries and cross-references verbatim, including any dated cancellation or alteration.
  • Obtain every cited instrument and filed plan; catalog each as its own item.
  • Compare the register and plan with related titles and the Parcel A/Parcel B reconstruction.
  • Record any missing attachment as a separate, dated placeholder; do not convert non-production into proof of non-existence or wrongdoing.

Interpretation and wider context

3. Interpretation: what it can and cannot show

This source can help establish the register/plan position at the date of copy and identify the registered extent or instruments that need to be obtained. It cannot, standing alone, establish that every historical registration was correct, that a court decided ownership of every depicted part, or that a later plan has the same extent as a parcel described in an earlier deed. The legal effect must be tested against the originating application, lodged plans/instruments, relevant court orders and subsequent alterations.

Interpretive assessment date: 10-10-2026.

Interpretation: working hypotheses

Working hypotheses, kept apart from the record above. The record text on this page is unchanged. None of these is a finding: each line is labelled as inference, theory, a reading that cuts against the case, or a discarded theory, and names the evidence it rests on and what would confirm or refute it, so the reader can test it. Updated 25 Oct 2026 (v2: ingredients wording).

Three versions of Parcel A

THEORY · P-01Working hypothesis (the family's frame): three versions of Parcel A, the house parcel, which the family calls "synthetic", were created without the occupier as a party — A1, the Forest of Cardiff woodland title WA735527 (1994); A2, BP Properties' farmhouse title WA240304 (1983); A3, the village green VG41 registered by Glamorgan County Council (1970). Each turned land the family regarded as theirs into a registered or statutory parcel held by someone else.

Would be confirmed by: Side-by-side plans showing each parcel overlapping the house parcel on the 1939 tenancy plan, and application papers silent about the person in occupation (LRA 1925 s.70(1)(g)).

Would be refuted by: Plans showing no overlap with the house parcel.

Status: Open (family hypothesis)

The 1924 drain agreement lead

INFERENCE · D-01The 15 May 1924 Bute–J. P. S. Corbett drain agreement is entered on the woodland title WA735527 as the only charge not limited to a plan colour, so it is registered against the whole title, including land that came through the 1975 conveyance; it no longer appears on the residual farm title WA231076 (record, register views). Glamorgan Archives DSA/12/4232 records a sale "Lord Bute to Miss O.S. Corbett" of a plot opposite O.S. 60, with correspondence of 6–22 Mar 1924, two months earlier. Working hypothesis: Bute was still dealing with this land as owner in 1924. That the May drain serves the March plot is an inference, not shown; O.S. 60 is a field on the south-east edge of the village, not the farmhouse plot (O.S. 36).

Rests on: EV-0015 · EV-0169 · EV-0170 · research log E119, E128 (DSA/12/4232)

Would be confirmed by: The 1924 agreement and its plan (HM Land Registry WA231076 item 2; Glamorgan Archives DSA/12/4232) showing the drain's route across or beside the house parcel.

Would be refuted by: A plan placing the drain wholly away from the house parcel, or a Registry note that the entry was carried over without a plan for clerical reasons.
