This page records questions about whether the occupier and family had a meaningful procedural opportunity to know of, understand, and challenge the registration and title steps affecting Great House Farm.

1982–83: registration and opportunity to object

The Wiki’s current reconstruction records HM Land Registry first registration of the relevant Great House Farm land to BP in 1982/83. A central issue is the timing and service of notice to the occupying family while Mary (Nancy) Williams was still living at the house.

SOURCE PENDING (no document or named speaker yet): notice reached the family only after Mary died on 26 March 1983, when the family was in mourning. The resulting question is whether she ever had a practical window in which to object, and whether the occupier’s opportunity was effective rather than merely formal.

What must be checked against the registry file

  • the registration application and date of presentation;
  • the exact notice issued, recipient, address, date and method of service;
  • any objection, caution, response, requisition or note made by the Registry;
  • whether the registered extent corresponded with the documentary parcel being claimed;
  • the title state immediately before and after registration.

This is deliberately framed as a procedural issue rather than a conclusion that registration was invalid. The Land Registry Titles page remains the source page for the title chronology, while this page preserves the fairness question separately.
