“Cardiff Urban District Council” as the water authority (per Branwen, voice testimony)
Why it is not ours: No Cardiff Urban District Council existed.
- Record or assertion tested
- “Cardiff Urban District Council” as the water authority (per Branwen, voice testimony)
- Disposition
- Name correction. No Cardiff UDC existed: Cardiff was a county borough. Llandough was in Penarth Urban District ( SC-22 ); the public water undertaker was Cardiff Corporation.
- What it does and does not establish
- Either Penarth UDC or Cardiff Corporation could be the council remembered. The 1958 report blames Western Ground Rents, not a council.
- Next step / retained route
- Penarth UDC minutes (UDPE) and Cardiff Waterworks Committee minutes, 1948–58.
