“John Williams, Great House Farm, Llandough, was also fined £1” for travelling without a fare (Barry magistrates, Mar 1903)
Why it is not ours: Our farm's name in a railway-fare case: no bearing on title or tenure.
The record
- The court's view: “John Williams, Great House Farm, Llandough, was also fined £1 for travelling between Grangetown and Cogan on the Barry Railway on the 12th ultimo, without having previously paid his fare.” (Barry Dock News, 6 Mar 1903). The Barry Herald of the same date gives “John Williams, jun.”
What it does and does not establish
It places a John Williams at Great House Farm in 1903, on the Penarth side (Grangetown to Cogan). That is all.
Next step
None. Kept as a dated occupancy reference.
