“Cardiff City Corporation” as grantee of the 23 Feb 1905 Bute conveyance (Land Registry wording)
Why it is not ours: A name slip: Cardiff became a city only in Oct 1905, so the grantee was then the County Borough.
The record
- HM Land Registry, title WA735527, charges register entry 1: the land tinted pink is subject to the rights in “a Conveyance dated 23 February 1905 made between (1) John Marquis of Bute and Earl of Dumfries and (2) Cardiff City Corporation … Copy filed under WA231076.”
- Cardiff received city status in October 1905.
What it does and does not establish
The register's wording is the registry's own paraphrase. It is not evidence of anything about the deed, which grants rights over a strip, not a transfer.
Next step
An official copy of the deed and plan filed under WA231076 would show the strip and its purpose.

Exclusion means “not this property” or “not in scope”, not that the source is false, and not evidence of wrongdoing by itself.
