The 1904 “one piece of land” arbitration flagged before the sewer easements (it apparently never happened)
Why it is not ours: Never held: the corporation settled with the landowners without arbitration.
The record
- Weekly Mail, 11 Jun 1904: negotiations had been concluded with Sir W. T. Lewis “concerning easements over 2½ miles of land forming part of the Bute Estate … In respect of one piece of land arbitration proceedings will, probably, be unavoidable.” The landowner is not named.
- Cardiff Times, 4 May 1907: Alderman Mildon said the corporation “had taken time to arrange matters with the landowners — a rather difficult matter — and had succeeded in doing that without going to arbitration”.
What it does and does not establish
A threatened arbitration that the record shows was avoided. It identifies no farm.
Next step
None.
