EV-0223 — 1881 census: reported Llandough Home Farm / R-W-S-S Farm wording

Evidence status: PENDING — source image not yet verified. This entry records a lead supplied by Sion Buckler on 19 October 2026. It is not a transcription made from an inspected census image.

Reported wording

The user reports that the 1881 census gives the address as “Land Doc Home Farm” (understood provisionally as Llandough Home Farm) and appears to list the farm as “R-W-S-S Farm”, also dictated as “Reese’s Farm”. These are recorded as competing reported readings, not as a verified quotation from the census.

What this establishes

At present, this entry establishes only that the census wording has been reported as a research lead. It does not establish the official name of the holding, a change of name, a connection to another farm, or any ownership or title proposition.

Verification required

  • Obtain and inspect the original 1881 census schedule or a reliable image of the relevant entry.
  • Transcribe the address and farm wording exactly as printed, preserving the distinction between “Reese’s” and the dictated spelling “R-W-S-S”.
  • Record the census piece, folio, page, schedule and household identifiers once verified.
  • Only then update the nomenclature page with a source citation and an exact image reference.
