Quotation (verbatim): 1910: “the grand jury was empanelled, Mr. John Griffiths being chosen foreman, the members of the jury being Messrs. F. Davies, A. W. Matthews, John Thomas (Llandough), John Williams, Timothy Driscoll, E. G. Morgan, Samuel Coles, Thomas Hopkins, W. Ll. Rees, John Thomas (Leckwith), and John Court … There were no presentments to make of the deaths of freeholders, or encroachments, or of other matters pertaining to manorial rights”. 1913: “Mr. Jenkin M. Williams, for Llandough” (constable). 1917: “Constables … Mr. Jenkin Williams, Llandough”. Library OCR, obvious OCR slips corrected.

Fits with: The manor court of Bute’s lordship met yearly at Llandough to 1917 and recorded deaths of freeholders and encroachments. A “John Williams” sits on the 1910 jury, two years after the court’s vote of sympathy for the family of the late John Williams of Great House (EV-0243): most likely the son, John Williams junior (EV-0279), then holding Great House. The court’s own records (EV-0278, presentments to 1934) are where any entry about Great House land would sit.

Cuts against: The 1910 report gives the juror’s name only, with no farm or parish. “Jenkin M. Williams” is the same name as the unexplained Llandough Farm entry (EV-0238); no link to Great House is shown.

Notes: The 1904 report lists officers only; no Williams is named.
