Quotation (verbatim): Leckwith Woods “bought … for a nominal sum in 1942”; 106 acres leased to the Forestry Commission for 999 years; Leckwith Woods described as “outside the boundary”.

Fits with: The family’s memory of “the forest, 1955” coincides with the 1955 Forestry Commission lease of Cardiff’s Leckwith Woods (a hypothesis only). The woods near the farm are Coed Creigiaidd (16.4 ha in Llandough, 138 m from the farm polygon) and Reservoir Wood (9.7 ha in Llandough).

Cuts against: Measured: the 62.9 ha OSM Leckwith Woods lies wholly outside Llandough community (0.0 ha inside; 602 m from the boundary; 1,247 m from the farmstead polygon), so the 1940–42 gift land was almost certainly in Leckwith parish, not part of the farm. Caveat: modern community lines against 1940 parishes; deed plan unseen.

Notes: Our case, prospective, on any link between the woodland transfers and the farm.
