2. What is known

Catalogue: GHF-E116 · Type: Reported lease lead · Date: 6 November 1877 as reported in Mary (Nancy) Williams’s later account; matching instrument not identified · Holder/repository: not established · Evidence status: REPORTED / UNLOCATED no matching original or plan attached

This catalogue page records a reported but unlocated document, based on the 1877 lease described in Mary (Nancy) Williams’s later account. It is not a transcription or proof that a matching instrument is held by an archive. SC-20 records that the physically examined DBDT/79/1 instrument is a 2 May 1877 Cardiff/Pembroke Terrace lease with no mention of Llandough; DBDT/18/1 and DBDT/1/3 are catalogue entries for other Cardiff properties and are not yet verified as relevant. No matching Llandough lease or plan has been identified.

  • First locate and authenticate the relevant original instrument or correct catalogue entry. Then compare its named parties, property description and any actual plan against the Great House Farm farmhouse parcel and the retained land. Until then, no A/B conclusion follows.
  • If a matching instrument is found, transcribe its date, parties, property, plan, rent and term before testing any relationship with the Thomas quarrying arrangement.

High-level Cedwyn Estate theory cross-reference: The reported 6 November 1877 lease is potentially relevant to the distinction between the house/quarrying parcel and land retained by Bute. The original is unlocated; until recovered and mapped it cannot prove an operative boundary, a transfer to the Williams family, or a route to the posited forty-parcel Cedwyn Estate.
