Catalogue entries (verbatim): BD 28/133 (1959): “Inspector’s report of local public inquiry into objections to plan: Penarth town map TM10” (open; not digitised). BD 28/198 (1957–1963): “Written statement, town maps and programme maps: Penarth TM10.” HLG 119/3181 (1957): “Glamorganshire County Council development plan: Penarth; preparation of town map no. 10; written statement and programme map.” HLG 119/3187 (1957–1963): “Glamorganshire County Council development plan: Area No. 2, Rhondda, Pontypridd, Aberdare, Whitchurch, Lisvane, Penarth, Barry, Ogmore-by-Sea, Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and Llwchwr; written statements, town, county and designation maps and details of land designated for compulsory purchase.” MAF 112/1108 (1957–1962): “Town and Country Planning Act 1947: Glamorgan County Council Development Plan, Area No 2.”

Also in the same series (not catalogued here): BD 28/138–171 hold the objections to the plan (numbered objections and mass-objection series); which file, if any, holds an objection about Great House Farm is not known.

Further files on the same plan (catalogue entries, verbatim; added 19 Oct 2026 debrief): HLG 119/3188 (1957–1963): “Glamorganshire County Council development plan: Area No. 2, West, East, South Rhondda, North Rhondda, Pontypridd, Aberdare, Whitchurch and Lisvane, Penarth, Barry, Ogmore-by-Sea, Cowbridge and Llantwit Major and Llwchwr; town, county and programme maps.” HLG 119/3189 (1957–1963): “Glamorganshire County Council development plan: Area No. 2, Rhondda, Pontypridd, Pentyrch, Radyr, Aberdare, Whitchurch, Lisvane, Penarth, Barry, Ogmore-by-Sea, Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and Llwchwr; reports of inquiry into objections and town maps.” MT 39/909 (1955–1965, Ministry of Transport): “DEVELOPMENT PLANS: Glamorgan CC: Area No 2.” Catalogue entries only; none of these files has been seen.

Why it matters: These are where the 1957–63 zoning of land below Ty Mawr, any compulsory-purchase designation, and the Ministry of Agriculture’s view on losing farm land would be recorded, if they were recorded at all.

Cuts against: Contents unconfirmed. A development plan zoning land for industry, and an inspector reporting on objections, were lawful public processes; none of these entries suggests wrongdoing.

Proves: The National Archives holds an inspector’s report on objections to the Penarth town map (1959), the Penarth written statement and maps, and Ministry files on the Area No. 2 plan.

Does not prove: That Great House Farm, Ty Mawr or the Buckler family is named in any of them.
