GHF-E173 — Cedwyn / Cwm-Cedwyn: complete reference index

References indexed: Cedwyn / Cwm-Cedwyn / Nant-Cedwyn / Ynys-Cedwyn and related forms. Some entries remain placeholders until the primary source is attached or independently verified.

Identity control: these similar spellings are research leads, not proof that every place-name refers to the same holding or to Great House Farm at Llandough-juxta-Penarth. The link to this property must be tested by source provenance, parish, boundary, acreage, named parties, map/plan and continuity. In particular, “Ty Mawr” can mean “large/great house” in Welsh; that translation alone is not evidence of identity.

What the Cedwyn branch can and cannot support

At present, this branch is a place-name and manorial-history research line. It may help identify older names, holdings or boundaries worth comparing to the later farm; it does not yet prove that all the variants were used for the same land, that the family held the farm continuously from a medieval manor, or that any older lease determines the post-1877 title. Those conclusions require the original records and mapped extents.

Evidence rule: cite the dedicated E-page for a source-specific fact. Cite this index only to navigate the name variants. Where the source is not obtained, cite the appropriate E-page as pending rather than presenting the reported detail as an established historical fact.

For the wider Cedwyn Estate working hypothesis, see Cedwyn Estate Working Theory. This page is not, by itself, proof of that hypothesis.
